A dedicated long-time volunteer with the Johor Bahru branch of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, Lim Min Um is the go-to person for organising blood donation drives. As the Vice Chairman and later Chairman of MRCS’s Blood Donation Committee, he has sacrificed many weekends by energetically organising blood donation drives at shopping malls, hotels and often working with other organisations who are willing to provide volunteers or act as sponsors.
“I hope more people will come forward and donate blood as every drop will help save a patient,” said Lim.
Lim does this to ensure that Hospital Sultanah Aminah’s blood bank is well stocked for any forms of emergency. Saving lives is his top priority and he goes all out to assist anyone requiring an emergency blood transfusion.
Lim added that many have the wrong perception that donating blood may result in side effects but assures us that it can actually lead to better blood circulation. He urges Johoreans to consider donating blood to help save the life of another Johorean in need.
